My boy Doc, who is also on my top list of all time producers invited me to work on a project that he has been passionately crusading. While I was in Toronto for a dj gig I stopped by the studio to lend a hand. I can not explain this emotion but often in this line of work people will speak of projects they are working on and sometimes you can tell how special it is when the one trying to explain it simply says, I can’t wait for you to hear it.

Doc pressed play and my mind was blown away. The voice of an artist called “The Weeknd” poured through the air with such an elegant, impassioned and cultured tone one might think that he was part brass instrument. I could continue to explain it but I’d rather wait for you to hear it. lol.

TheWeeknd has so many good songs that I was unsure as to what I could offer the team. I left them with a piece and I can’t wait to get back up there to finish. Doc, TheWeeknd and their crew are bringing the shift if you know what I mean. Those that pay attention have already heard the movement and if you haven’t well here is your train ticket. TheWeeknd has a downloadable mixtape on his website and there will be much more to come. Stay tuned.

    Fort Greene Festival Kick-Off Party

    April 16, 2011 | Posted By: | Events · Featured |

I had a lot of fun rocking for the Fort Greene Festival committee. Rich Medina and I haven’t deejayed together since 2004. It was long overdue. There was a lot of love in the house, the dance floor was packed. I ran into people that I hadn’t seen in years. Shout out to Rich Balewa, Litro, Little Shawn, Frei, Dj Trauma, The Minority Report, Rosie Perez, Ms. Lisa, her Chicago crew, DJ Buttah, Merrick and to everyone that came out. “Spread Love The Brooklyn Way”

These are the pictures I’ve collected so far. I’ll post more as I receive them.

SPEAK! So The World Will Listen

    April 13, 2011 | Posted By: | Featured · News |

Speak! So The World Will Listen is a multimedia concert experience that is directed, composed and conducted by William D. Caballero. William blends a documentary he shot in Uganda and offers it with a live orchestra.

The film opens with an enthralling speech that was given at the 40th anniversary of the United Nations by Jiddu Krishnamurti. It then leads into a story of oppression, famine, sorrow and a deep perseverance as told through the eyes of peace activist and children that have suffered from the war in Uganda.

Each person’s story combined with the impacting composition that was intensely played by the musicians in the orchestra was a lot to take in. There were several moments I found myself on the brink of tears. I sat there in little moments of prayer asking The Creator to help them, to bless them, to free them, and to give thanks for my ancestors that suffered greatly for me to be where I am today. Needless to say I was moved by SPEAK! So The World Will Listen.

My attempt to explain this experience in full pales in comparison to what actually unfolds before you. I don’t know when the next screening will be but I urge you to visit William D. Cabellero’s website for updates and I beg everyone to partake in SPEAK! Then go share your experience with the world so the world will change towards the better.
