    7 Days IN : & Counting

    a way we go!
    a way we go!

2008 was a challenging year for me. There were a few peaks, a multitude of valleys and yet I was surrounded by The Creator’s blessings. I am not ungrateful to the minutes however I was happy to close that chapter titled Two Thousand Eight A.D.

Ever the realist, I embrace this New Year with a balanced and optimistic enthusiasm. Remnants of 2008 like unemployment, the global financial meltdown, war and worldwide despair just to name a few, are enough to keep an over jubilant mind state in check as I step into 2009.

With my composure in check and only a few days into the New Year, I feel a huge jolt indicating a vigorous roller coaster ride is amidst… UhOh! Israel and Hamas are at it again. In this round, Israel has bombed schools killing innocent children. Some people interviewed said they feel no remorse towards the misfortune and that “they asked for it”… wowwwwwwwwwww! It’s going to be that kind of year aye?

Russia has cut off its gas supply to several nations leaving millions in the cold. This is a huge move, which highlights a conflict in the making. File this under the age old “haves verse the have-nots”. I’m hoping that a little bit of C.R.E.A.M. will prevent this from escalating to a major oh sugar honey ice tea event.

Clearly energy independence is vital to the security and well being of all nations. But must we be brought to the brink of war in order to work things out? These modern day issues remind me of all that stuff Mr. King, my 7th grade global studies teacher, use to drill into my head. You know the stories of times past with the not so good outcome for a certain group of people. I’m beginning to wonder if I should view ’08 as the good ole days.*

On the home front we eagerly welcome the New Year 2009 and the prospect of change. In a few days America will inaugurate the nations first Black President. Many feel this historic moment will champion the age of a new order that will move the nation towards more promising days.

Some have already begun to criticize President Elect Obama’s initial policies. I think it is premature to criticize his set up especially when the lot of us sat on our tushies as the Bush administration brought the nation to it’s knees.

I have no idea as to the twists, turns and dips of this ride. I’m in this thing holding on just as you are. I match the bitter moments with the knowledge that the taste of sweetness is well within reach. As I soar toward the heights my arms do not rise, yet I maintain my grip as a reminder to not be prideful. I pray for righteous guidance, patience, compassion, forgiveness, mercy, knowledge, wisdom, understanding, calmness, strength, love, freedom and peace. Only the giver of life knows the outcome. May we hold to our remembrance and thankfulness to The Life Giver as we steady our steps in Two Thousand Nine A.D. (more…)

    Obama : Presidential Lookin Boy?

    June 5, 2008 | Posted By: | Featured · General |

Are we ready to make advancements in America or are we complacent with the status quo? My sights are set on Chicago for the answer. Currently the “Windy City” offers Barack Obama and Hot Stylz. Hmmn… the jury is still out. I’ll check back November 5th 2008. Hopefully by then the laughter will stop and we can get to business.
